What are daily mile tracks?
A daily mile track is a looped running route marked onto the playground or field so a class can run or jog their fifteen active minutes straight from the classroom. It supports the Daily Mile, the initiative where children build up to running a mile a day at their own pace. We set the loop to the space you have, add distance markers so pupils can count their laps, and can weave in shapes, footprints and challenge zones to keep younger runners interested lap after lap.

We walk the space and measure the longest sensible loop, checking the surface and steering the route clear of parking, gates and busy doorways.

Design
We draw the loop with its length and any distance markers, so you can see how many laps make a mile before we start.

Install
The track is masked and laid in thermoplastic on site, and a straightforward loop is usually finished within a day.

Aftercare
The track is ready to run on once cool. We can extend the route, add lanes or refresh the line on a later visit as the habit takes hold.
What do daily mile tracks cost?
A looped daily mile track commonly falls somewhere around £1,200 to £3,500 fitted, with the figure driven mostly by the length of the loop and whether you want lanes and distance markers. A short EYFS loop costs less; a long multi-lane perimeter track costs more. We measure the space and give you a fixed quote, so you know the cost before committing.

Daily mile tracks: your questions answered
How long does the track need to be for a mile?
It depends on the loop, and that is the point of the markers. We measure the longest sensible loop your space allows, then work out how many laps make a mile and mark that up so pupils and staff can count. A smaller yard simply means more laps.
Can the track go on grass or does it need tarmac?
Thermoplastic bonds to tarmac or macadam, which is what makes an all-weather track possible when the field is too wet to use. If you only have grass we will talk through the options at survey, because a hard-surface loop is what keeps the daily habit going in winter.
Will a daily mile track fit a small playground?
Usually, yes. Even a compact loop works because the Daily Mile is about time on your feet rather than a fixed circuit, so children just run a few more laps. We set the route to the space and add fun markers to keep shorter loops interesting.
